The
advice that I would have for anyone who is thinking about joining the
Career Connection is that you must have thick skinned, hard work
mentality and you have to be determined because just because you join a
program doesn’t mean that you are going to be the next Steven
Spielberg. You have to get in and you know what I mean work. My advice
is just, and I left before...on their other website I left my
phone
number and my phone number now you could call me, now don’t call me
about nonsense but you can call me and this is a real interview and I
will vouch
for because I am here 646-423-7601 call me and I am a real
person. This is not a infomercial, it really happened and it wouldn’t
happen in
a way that it happened right now. So it’s real. Call me up. I will let
you know it’s real and you going to have to work for me also (laugh).

My
mentor already told me he wants me to direct music videos, while he's
doing these features
because you know music videos pay you less than the features. So he
wants me to start doing that. So I guess he was just training me,
getting me ready for that.

I
would recommend Film Connection over traditional schools because of the
fact that it puts you on a set immediately. I mean or whatever you are
doing. If its sound or whatever you are doing, you are being thrown
right into it and it’s a much better way to learn as opposed to the
traditional classroom. You still get the books and everything else but
you have to read the course material but it helps you absorb I think
everything a lot quicker. That the big joke on set always was, you know
you spend $21,000 or $80,000 on education and then what do you so. You
go be an intern anyway. So you are better off keeping that money trying
to get on set and making your own movie with the money you have left
over.

Well
a week after I joined the
program I was working on a famous music video which was a great
experience. It was my first opportunity with the program and the week
following that I was working on a Roger Corwin movie which had a budget
of about $200,000 and by the time that film was over, I was the second
assistant director. So all in all it was a great experience and
through those 2 experiences I have met a ton of people, I
have made a bunch of connections and I have been able to keep
working in New York City during the past 6 months. I have also become a
freelance production assistant on my own also using those connections.
So really it’s been a great experience.
