ACTUAL TESTIMONIALS FROM REAL FILM CONNECTION MENTORS AND THEIR STUDENTS

In film school they are learning a lot of theory. For at least the first 2 years they are learning, they're not actually practical with their hands on on a film set. It’s just like anything else that you working hands on you get to see the people doing what they doing, somebody takes you under their wing and they begin to rely on you if you are a reliable person and you are going to learn to participate. So I learned editing, I learned how to shoot all basically on a one on one situation because Tony would call me and say this person needs some help. So you got to be willing to not get paid because the payment that you are getting is the training. You are getting one on one like internship like Jesus like I mean you learn  how to be a craftsman one on one from another craftsman and not in a big class setting with 35, 40 people. I am not talking you out of going to traditional film school if you can afford it..that's your business. But if you always wanted to do film school and money was a thing holding you back try it.

My name is Phil Warren.  I am enrolled in the Film Connection program. I have been in the program for over a year now. I have had the opportunity to work staff on large budget films. And had the opportunity to work in the camera department on a HBO television show. And through that I did end up getting, I wanted to go through camera department, that’s my main goal and I was able to get a job as a camera PA on Flight of the Concorde’s HBO series. So now I have my foot in the door in the camera department.

My name is John Rafael Abron. Most people call me Raf. I am a film connection student. I started about 5 weeks ago in which I became a production intern on a movie and then worked my way up to assistant line producer. Film connection is a great way to start learning the movie business because you tend to start from the ground up and the only limitation is what you bring to the table.  So the more you can do the quicker you can advance.

Hi. My name is Kerry Pope and I am an audio technician at the Film and Tape Works in Chicago. We get a lot of people that come to the studio for the program because they want to learn about the business and how things work. The first thing that we do when people come to the studio for the program is we show them how to work all the equipment and we teach them a little bit about the technical side  of things in the video and film production world. After that we let them sit behind the scenes on actual shoots and live shots and what not and then we actually let them use the equipment so that they can have on hand training in an actual real life shoot. And the program’s worked out very well for a lot of them. I have actually worked with a few people that came to the studio for the program, after they were finished with the program on freelance jobs that they got hired by certain producers in this city. So I think that the program will work out very well for anybody that takes it and has the dedication to really learn the business.
